Protein Infused Cookie Dough Balls

I just created the easiest and most delicious energy boosting balls of protein infused cookie dough! They are so easy to make and are such a convenient snack to travel with or quickly consume while you’re getting the kids ready for school. They are packed full of energizing nutrients that we could all benefit from in our busy schedules.

These protein infused cookie dough balls have a sweet nutty flavor with a wonderful doughy consistency. I absolutely love chocolate chips, so I made sure to load them up with my favorite morsels. They are basically your childhood dream of licking the bowl when your mom made chocolate chip cookies but extremely guilt free and far more nutrient dense.

This recipe is super easy to make with minimal prep time. I prefer a softer dough consistency, so I pulled out my favorite food processor, which is not necessary but certainly was convenient. You can get the same results using a basic kitchen blender or opt out for a grainier dough. We all have our own preferences which makes this recipe so versatile.

I made this first batch as a fun snack to take with my family and me on a little adventure I’d planned for them. Adventures with kids is never an easy task with packing and preparing enough snacks, extra clothes, diapers, juice, and activities. I like to pack snacks that I can easily prep the night before or right before we leave that, not only store well, but end up giving us a quick boost of energy. I have had my fair share of traveling on a gas station diet, and I have yet to find a vacation that ended well with that option. My food sensitivities and allergies are also really hard to work around when I don’t go prepared, so it has become a formed habit. These protein infused cookie dough balls are super filling and offer a quick boost of energy while on the road or any type of adventure. They are so delicious that they won’t lose their appeal even if they aren’t in an aesthetic round ball.

Jaxxen, my oldest son, wanted to help participate in the prepping process, which is a hit or a miss these days. Six-year-old boys have more energy than I even thought possible! He really loved adding in all of the ingredients and attempting to roll the dough. I think he mostly enjoyed sneaking in some little bits of dough when I wasn’t looking. Once we finished prepping the protein infused cookie dough balls, he ate an entire serving in one sitting, so I quickly encouraged him to head on outside to play.

How is this edible cookie dough so nutritious you ask? It is packed full of energy producing ingredients, making it a great breakfast, pre-workout meal, or pick-me-up snack at any time of the day. The oats offer a great source of fiber that slowly absorbs throughout the day releasing energy at a slow pace giving you more stamina throughout the day. Oats have a ton of health benefits by themselves, so adding in the extra vitamins and minerals, it just makes this such a good healthy alternative to those late night, binge worthy snacks. It aids in healthy growth of bacteria in the gut and helps lower cholesterol. The high amount of protein within the cookie dough balls improves muscle recovery time, cell growth, and repair. The raw honey also offers antibacterial and antimicrobial benefits as well. This snack would greatly benefit an intense workout if consumed roughly an hour before activity, giving you a natural boost of energy and endurance.

There are many food allergy alternatives that you can substitute within the ingredient list. Instead of using almond butter, you can opt for peanut butter. You can also choose cashew milk if you have a coconut allergy. Coconut or almond flour would also replace the ground oats nicely as well.

AMPD Nutrition Pro Vanilla Plant Protein

AMPD Nutrition’s Pro Vanilla is the ultimate plant-based protein. It is made from a unique combination of specialized proteins, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that work synergistically to support our body’s systems at the cellular level. It provides a wide range of vitamins and minerals for comprehensive support and helps maintain a healthy metabolism with B vitamins, zinc, and chromium. It also enhances weight management, body composition, and bone health with calcium, vitamin D, and magnesium. It is easy to digest since plants are much easier on the digestive system, which greatly reduces negative side effects such as gas and discomfort or pain.

Ground Oats

Oats are a well-known breakfast staple and have been for quite a long time. They are high in antioxidants that reduce oxidative stress within the body. They are also full of essential vitamins and minerals such as magnesium, iron, phosphorus, zinc, folate, copper, and B vitamins. Oats have a great impact on our digestive system as they contain beta-glucan that lines our digestive tract and helps feed the good bacteria that reside there. There are also studies showing that oats help reduce cholesterol and improve insulin response which can help reduce blood sugar.

Raw Honey

Sweet raw honey, which comes straight from the beehive, has been well known for hundreds of years in traditional medicine. It is full of antioxidants that help protect our bodies from oxidative stress and chronic illnesses. Honey also has antimicrobial and antibacterial properties due to its low Ph levels, making it harmful to bacteria. There are studies that show it also aids in wound healing and can kill pathogens such as E. coli, staphylococcus aureus, and H. pylori. You can also find it in over-the-counter cough medicine, especially in children’s cough syrups. One small study has also shown that raw honey can protect against brain damage due to the high antioxidants and anti-inflammatory benefits.

Almond Butter

Almonds are a great source of monounsaturated fat and contain high amounts of antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. They have a very acquired nutty taste and can be made into many different forms such as milk, paste, butters, and flours. Almonds contain high amounts of vitamin E, which is a fat-soluble antioxidant that helps with cellular protection and possibly cell repair. There are also high amounts of the mineral magnesium found in almonds, which is a great snack for those with diabetes. Magnesium helps control blood sugar levels, helps improve insulin production, and also reduces high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
